Quarantine 2008

It's always fun to watch a movie over the weekend for many reason - destress, unwind, for laughs, etc. Yesterday, I watched this "apparently" scary movie called Quarantine. The cast of the movie was pretty good - Jennifer Carpenter (Exorcism of Emily Rose), Jay Hernandez (Ladder 49), Johnathan Schaech (That Thing You Do), Greg Germann (Ally McBeal), Columbus Short (Stomp The Yard) & Marin Hinkle (ER, Grey Anatomy, Spin City). All top notch cast.
I must however say that, although there were many thrilling moments, the overall story wasn't all that great. What really scares you is the sudden falling of human bodies - very loudly, the sudden breaking of glass/windows, etc.

The movie is about this apartment building which is infected with a deadly rabies virus which originated from a dog called Max who belongs to a little girl. No one knows that the girl is infected until they discover that its her dog that infected everyone else. The funny thing is, in this movie, you watch the entire thing from a single camera angle and no one lives - EVERYONE DIES!!
I shall let you see some pictures before I speak my thoughts!
This is a scene when the fireman dropped to his death after being bitten by an infected old lady from the 3rd floor! Again, its the sound of the fall that will have you jump off your seat!
This bitch was forever screaming in the movie! So freaking annoying man! Always insisting that the light be kept on towards her! Usually, the women want the light off :)
This is the beginning of the movie. The whole movie is something like The Blair Witch Project.
The little who got infected by her dog. She acted really well. Like a psycho bitch!
The beautiful old lady who went around biting people and getting them infected.
Ok, so here's the thing. I have an issue with this whole thing. My thoughts are:
1. At the end, everyone dies - which means, EVERYONE dies. So the fact that the movie was shot from a single camera angle, how did they retrieve the camera?
2. If all the innocent people died, that means that the radies infected freaks are still in the building coz all the innocent people have been biten and are now infected - so how?
3. The movie ended with the reporter being dragged on the floor! Am assuming she's bitten too. Then comes on the credit!! So stupid
There is no ending. So many questions left unanswered. Like:
- Did the authority blow up the building?
- Did they go in a clean it up?
- Did they go in and get killed as well?
- Who retrieved the video camera and how?
Anyways, if you feel like going to a movie and walking out dumb-founded, this is it mate!

Blogs

I'm new to the world of blogging - i agree! When I was first introduced to this world, I had no idea what blogging was all about until someone finally told me "Oi! It's just your diary la -except that it's online lor!" - that made sense. Then I questioned, "Isn't a diary suppose to be private and a secret?" to which my friend told me "Hey, don't ask too many questions! If you want to blog, then blog, if not shut up!"
Now, I also wanna be famous mah so I started blogging but rather than making it like a diary, I decided to treat it like an expression of who I am and what I go through daily in my life - I share things that I don't mind people reading about and going "Oh! So that's what he did!"
I've read alot of blogs since I started blogging(actually I'm more of a writer than a blogger) and I've realised one thing - many people are blogging for money now - which isn't a bad thing but I always thought that blogs are personal expression and everything and anything said on blogs are actual facts and true feelings and emotions of a person. So, if a brand asks you to blog about their product, the idea is to get the hard truth about what the blogger thinks about the brand / product and have his/her readers exposed to it. Now, that's powerful because no brand influences the mind and thoughts of a blogger.
I've also read some blogs that are merely giving information - might as well call these blogs as a "directory" coz that's what they are. It's becoming more of hard-sell advertising rather than anything else. I remember reading a blog that literally depicts what was printed on a clubs flyer - door policy, cover charge, music played in the club, etc. These are information that are available on the clubs website. Now, when I read a blog, I wanna know about what the blogger feels, experiences, wants, desires, etc - not another ad. Granted that brands will want bloggers to write about the product / brand but what should come out is brutal honesty. If the product or brand is crap, then say just that!
Anyway, I will try to keep my blog as personal as possible so that you all know exactly what I feel about certain things without any fabrication to make it look good.

Mumbai Attacks

I just don't get it anymore! How can there be so much hate in this world?? This is really sad - these terrorist attacks on innocent human beings! The Taj Hotel in Mumbai was the first 5 star hotel built in India and the hotel itself is very grand overall. But not anymore due to the recent attacks on it along with the other hotel - Oberoi. This whole thing was because these stupid morons who were armed with AK-47's, grenades and machine guns, wanted some stupid prisoners released - dumb fucks!! These are some of the horrific visuals. Guests at the Taj Hotel are rescued by firemen from the fourth floor in Mumbai November 27, 2008

Nearly 80 people were killed in a series of shootings and blasts across Indias financial capital Mumbai late 26 November, the state government said. The Maharashtra state government said the death toll had risen to 78, according to the Press Trust of India news agency, and that six Indian army units had been deployed to the south of the city. Heavily armed men with automatic weapons and grenades targeted two of Mumbais top luxury hotels, the Taj Mahal and Trident, and the main Chhatrapati Shivaji railway station.

Marriage.....

Here's the thing about marriage - you meet a girl, you fall in love, you get married! Life is a honeymoon and then you have kids then a new life begins all together.
Marriage is a beautiful institution but it's not for everyone. Some people prefer to be single and enjoy a bachelor life throughout their life. In a man's life, he goes through alot of things. Parties, women, drugs, party, women, drugs, party, women......you get the point. When you're dating, you're technically not bound to a certain life which means nothing is certain. When you're dating, you're also exposed to many elements in life. Some guys are pretty sleek with their actions and have a reputation of being a playboy! Nothing wrong in that really! You're not married and so, technically, nothing prevents you from being a playboy. If you're dating, you can still have the same reputation except that you don't sleep around with other girls but instead flirt with them in a very friendly and harmless manner. Cheating only comes in play when there is physical sexual contact with the opposite gender besides your girlfriend / wife. Harmless flirting doesn't hurt anyone as long as people know their limits and know where to draw the line.
Comments such as "Before you decide to get married, you better clean up your life!" - these statements are just stupid and really doesn't make sense. What a guy/girl does with his or her life depends on them - as long as they don't cheat the other person.
Marriage has always been a pressure to me!

Sony Ericsson C905

Everyone has their weakness - mine is gadgets! I'm a sucker for new technology and new gadgets. The first thing that I always change (coz it's the cheapest to change and I'm usually completely broke months to come) is my phone. I now use the Sony Ericsson K850i. I use to like Nokia but the phone are not that reliable anymore - my point of view and this does not represent everyone else that I know.
Sony Ericsson is now coming out with a new phone - Sony Ericsson C905. What attracted me right away - 8.1 megapixel camera with Xenon flash. That's what you get when you combine a company with camera technology with a phone maker. Check out the phone below!

Some of the features include: 2.4" scratch resistent screen, stylish dual slider, intergrated active lens cover and illuminated display. It also has the usual Wi-Fi, GPS, MMS, SMS, Bluetooth, Infrared, video & picture blogging and WLAN.
It comes in 3 colors - Night Black, Ice Silver and Copper Gold. My favorite color - Night Black. It has the grand look and plus the other colors look real "pariah"!
I can't wait for this phone to be released. I'm sooo gonna get it and the only way I can afford it is to trade in all my old phones to get this one phone coz I'm guessing this phone will be in the region of about RM2,000!!
My favorite car has always been the BMW M3. I have been and will always be obsessed with it till the day I hit the grave. It's something about this street performance car that attracts me. Since the E30, E36, E46 and now the E90 of the 3-series, the car has evolved to a real mean lean machine that kicks most car's ass on the street.
BMW recently revelead the latest of the M3 line-up, the BMW E90 M3. Below are the pictures of the car that were available.

This will truly be the "Ultimate Driving Machine"!

Yoga - is it really bad???

Headlines "Fatwa Council deems ancient form of exercise from India 'haram' for Muslims"
When: w/end of 22nd November 2008
Reaction - what fucking stupid shit is this man!
Now, can you imagine the shock that I got when I woke up the next day after a hard night of drinking to reading this blady stupid statement in the paper. Come on man!!!! We live in a country where we have been preaching about multi racial lifestyle and living in peace and harmony! Hindu, Muslim, Chinese & Christians - these are just religious beliefs that individuals live by and lead their individual private life. When it comes to the social world - we are all MALAYSIAN'S for crying out loud.
This is what the Chairman of Fatwa said:
"Because yoga had been practised by the Hindu community for thousands of years and incorporated physical movements, religious elements together with chants and worshipping, with the aim of “being one with God, we believe that it is inappropriate for Muslims to do yoga. The council is declaring that practising yoga, when it comes together with the three elements, is haram to Muslims"
To make matters even more pathetic, a one professor from a certain local university advised all the Muslim individuals who are involved in yoga sessions, to stop for fear that they could deviate from the teachings of Islam.
This is what I, an ordiniary Malaysian with an ordiniary life, know about yoga:
"Yoga is a scientific system of physical and mental practices that originated in India more than three thousand years ago. Its purpose is to help each one of us achieve our highest potential and to experience enduring health. With Yoga, we can extend our healthy, productive years far beyond the accepted norm and, at the same time, improve the quality of our lives. "
So, it has been said that Yoga is from India - everything originates from somewhere.
Yoga is said to help with breathing - which is universal right - coz everyone regardless of religion need to breathe right.
If you're interested in reading more about how yoga can help individuals, this is a good link:
http://www.specialyoga.com/yoga.html
So in summary, I think us Malaysian's need to start thinking, acting, living and being as ONE nation rather than picking on these stupid small issues. There are so many other major issues that needs attention but somehow everyone is focusing on these non-problem matters that has no direct positive impact in anyone's life because we have all been living this way pretty well before these moron's came up with this crap.
Final note - if yoga is "haram" then maybe they should also consider thes following words that also come from the Sankrit language - which is also from India so based on the statement, should be "haram" as well - raja, putera, puteri.

Buttercookies......

I've been called many names in my lifetime but a friend yesterday clearly topped the charts with her nick for me - these were her exact words "I want your buttercookies!"
Now, I don't know what was going through her mind when she said that. Probably the fact that I was holding a huge hamper from the lucky draw win and it contained some butter cookies in it but the sequence of the conversation and the comment just sounded and seems very vulgar.
Before you start thinking dirty, I must set the record straight - this friend of mine, is married with a child and she is very content with her life. She is "one of the boys" to us!
Anyways, neither one of us got the butter cookies coz the hamper didn't belong to either of us. Ha!Ha!
If you're reading this babe - this is the only butter cookies I can give you:

The Family Babies

Sometimes I still find it difficult to accept the fact that both my siblings are married with kids and they have the most cutest and most adorable kids in the world (of course I will say this as they are my niece and nephews).
My niece's name is Kahyra while my twin nephews are Krien & Kushal. Naughty as these 2 boys are, they are just as cute. But my niece is the most well behaved kid you will ever find and truly polite and respectful as well. These are pictures of the kids in the family!
My brother and his daughter (my niece) Kahyra. She turns 5 next year. Kid can read the newspaper mates!
This is Kahyra with my mom.

My dad with my twin nephews.
This is the younger of the twin - Kushal
This is Kahyra again - busy with some coloring book that she had during dinner.

Pistol Whipped

I recently watched a movie called Pistol Whipped - now any movie with that kind of a title shouldn't even get pass through the "logic" department. It did so here I am talking about it.
When I was younger (like 20 years ago), I always found Steen Seagal cool coz of his long pony tail and his Akido fighting skills. Dude could break bones - literally break bones! That's was cool. But over the years, when you grow up, you realise that all his moves are pretty stupid and that he really CANNOT act for shit.
Don't bother watching this movie even if it's for pleasure sake - I made that mistake. Here's what the movie's about in a nutshell. Matt Conner (Steven Seagal) is an ex-cop whose life has gone downhill since he was kicked off the Bridgeport police force after being accused of corruption. Every so often Matt goes to a catholic church to talk to Father Joe Maloney, who is a friend of his. Matt's been struggling with a debilitating gambling problem and a debt that totals more than $1,000,000.
Matt is approached by a man named Blue, who takes Matt to meet with a mysterious old man. The Old Man informs Matt that he has bought out all of Matt's gambling debt markers. The Old Man offers to wipe Matt's debt clean in exchange for a few "favors." All Matt has to do is hunt down and kill the city's biggest gangsters, those that the police can't touch. Matt thinks something isn't right, and with the help of his ex-wife Liz's husband, police Lt. Steve Shacter, Matt begins to investigate Blue while fighting his alcoholism, getting visits from Becky, and doing the first two jobs -- taking out major local gangsters Bruno and Ling.
Complicating matters is a shifty alliance with the Old Man, Blue, and their associate, Andrea "Drea" Smalls, whom Matt sleeps with. And then the Old Man gives Matt his next assignment -- to kill Steve. It turns out that Steve is the leader of a group of corrupt cops who had been working with Bruno and Ling. It was Steve who stole the money that Matt was accused of stealing, and then Steve killed Matt's partner before Matt was thrown off the force. Now, Steve goes to the church and brutally kills Father Maloney, and Matt vows to kill the man who killed Father Maloney. Matt figures out that it was Steve. Steve kidnaps Becky, and Matt puts his life on the line to rescue her
Overall, boring and stupid. Doesn't even make it to a "B" standard of movies. If you still wanna watch it, I'd suggest a comfy pillow, some chips and LOTS of alcohol. But on the other hand, perfect movie during company parties! Ha! ha!

Beggars

Back in the late 90's, there was a tale of a beggar who begged in Damansara Uptown area. This same beggar, lives in a brick bungalow and is driven in a S-Class by his driver to his begging area.
I see alot of these beggars on our streets. Believe me - I do feel bad for them that they have to beg but I also have my own thoughts on these exact same people.
1. They make so much more money than any one of us - coz they don't pay taxes, etc.
2. They now have an assistant to walks with them to direct them on which tables to approach and request for money - CAN'T THESE IDIOT'S WHO ASSIST THEM, TAKE CARE OF THEM RATHER THAN LETTING THEM BEG? I mean, get a job and support these blind people.
3. Most of these beggars are blind or partially blind - they still have 2 hands and legs - get a job! The government should provide jobs for them.
4. There are also some beggars who are crippled but they are not stupid right!! Here's a thought - why not give them jobs sitting in toll-booths giving out toll tickets? A good way to battle unemployment and begging right? Besides, we have millions of toll booths in this country anyway!
5. We all do our charity in our own way - my family does it through the temple and also help orphanage in the country with food. But when these people approach you in a restaurant and you refuse to give them any money, they look at you as though you had done something criminally wrong. Come on!! Get a life! While you're at it, get a freaking job!
I honestly feel that if someone begs for money, buy them food instead coz then at least you will know where the food is going!

Haters never succeed

It's such a weird world we live in. We speak about love, affection, compassion, care, honesty, trust, loyalty, etc. But in reality, none of these exist in this world, let alone within ourselves. I mean, think about it, if all these are in face a reality, there will be no wars, no fighting, no dispute, no ugly confrontations and most definitely there will be no enemies.
I've experienced this quite a number of times but the recent experience is by far the chart topper. I've always told people - the first time is always the hardest but when you've done it a few times, it's a walk in the park really.
I do not understand people and how stupid they can be in speaking words of accusation knowing clearly that the world is small. It might have been a statement of innocence or a joke but the interpretation from the world seems different and that exact interpretation can ruin one's career! So, what do you do when one of your best buddies decides to turn around and accuse you of being corrupt??!!
This is how I see things - purely jealousy!! Like 2 famous rappers once said:
1) "Killers wanna hate, let them hate but watch they money pile up" - 50 cents - means - if these jealous people wanna hate on you for doing a good job, let them be coz at the end, they loose out in terms of time and wealth coz they are too busy hating while you're too busy making a living and saving that cash up.
2. "Thugs change, Love changes and best friends become strangers" - NAS - means - nothing in this life is forever and things always change. Just let it be.
So, what have I learnt from this entire experience?? Do your own thing and let the "dogs" bark as long as they want!
